Exquisite Examples
Two of the most exquisite examples of an Automaton and Vintage Bisque Doll will be auctioned in the Doll and Teddy Bear Sale on Wednesday 15th September at Thornaby.

From the Puppen & Spielzeug Museum Auction in 2007, a French Bisque Automaton 'Little Girl with Mirror and Hankie' by Roullet & Descamps, c.1890. Appropriately attired in antique silk garments, standing 18" high. When wound up her head moves from side to side, she nods and alternatively raises the mirror and hankie to a gentle musical accompaniment. From her bisque head with blue glass paperweight inset eyes to her original knit stockings and silk shoes, she is a classic automaton.

From a vendor in New South Wales, Australia, a Tete Jumeau doll, known as 'Clara Walla' who comes with provenance. Given to the vendor's Aunt in 1913 by her teacher and then passed onto the vendor in 1964. Re-clothed in 1988 for the period, to include lace which belonged to her grandmother. A much loved doll, where the vendor wishes her new owner as much enjoyment with her as they have had.
